š The tractor plant was established in 1945.
During the first ten years JSC VTZ manufactured "Universal U-2"
tractors featured a kerosene carburetor engine, metal wheels
with grousers.
š In 1947 theš plant startedš manufacturing tractorsš for cotton
production, butš in 1970 their productionš wasš transferredš to
Tashkent tractor plant.
š In 1955 engineers of the Vladimir tractor plant designed a new
all - purpose tractor in row-cropš and cotton version,š equipped
with aš diesel and rubber-tireš wheels, andš prepared itsš full-
scale production.
š T-28 tractor model was started. Its advantages were confirmedat
theš Worldš Exhibition inš Brussel,š where "Vladimirets"š won the
the first prize and Grand Gold medal.
š Since then, production has been updated nearly each year.
š The tractor plantš inš Vladimirš hasš becomeš one ofš the world
largest suppliers of air-cooled engines.
š In 1977, a team of experts from the plant, who had designed air-
cooled diesels and launched their mass-scale production, was awar-
ded the USSR State Prize in science and engineering.
š Machinery produced by tractor builders in Vladimir is extremely
reliable, well-known inside and outside the country. The tractors
have beenš exported toš over 60š countries ( USA, Canada,š France,
Australia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, India, Egypt, Mexico etc.).
š Theš companyš wasš awarded theš "Goldenš Mercury" international
prize for itsš contribution intoš the promotion ofš international
trade cooperation.
š Vladimir Tractor Plantš is a medium-size integrated producer of
smallš agriculturalš tractorsš andšš air-cooledšš dieselš engines
(25-85 HP). It is located in the townš of Vladimirš 180 km north-
east of Moscow.
š The mainš production facilitiesš occupy the territory ofš about
310 hectare, including 133.6 hectare in Vladimir.
š The plantš has subsidiaries inš Vladimir region andš affiliates
in the townš of Vladimir.
š The staff of the company consists of 4500 persons.

- Production capacities: 10000 TRACTORS and 70000 ENGINES ANNUALLY.
Vladinir Tractor Plant has all of the technologiesš required to
provideš forš theš completeš production cycleš of tractorsš and
engines: foundry, smithy/stamping, press/welding,electrochemical
facing, machining, assembly and painting technologies.
Research is underway concerning the manufacture of wheel tractors
in the range ofš 45 - 80 HP, 3- andš 4-cylinder air-cooled diesel
engines rated 45 - 80 HP, small-scale petrol engines with 3 - 5 HP
and new equipment that is based upon the plant's existing production
line.
JSCš VTZ holds blocks of shares in many Russian enterprises and a
number ofš foreignš ones.š Its majorš investments are in Avtobank,
Kontinent-Polisš ASO, JSC Lipetskš Tractor Plant, Elrus Ltd.š and
JSC "Tractoroexport".
